SliceScope

Privacy policy

SliceScope is a static site that collects as little as possible. Here's exactly what that means, Google Analytics included. Last updated October 9, 2026.

SliceScope is a static website. We don't run accounts, and we collect only what's needed to keep the site working and to understand roughly which pages are useful. This page explains what we gather and what happens when you click an outbound link.

What we collect

We use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and referrers; the specifics are in the next section, and we do not sell that data. If you email us, we keep your message only to reply and to track a correction. If you subscribe to spec-watch updates, we store your email address solely to send those updates, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Analytics: what runs and how to turn it off

The analytics stack is Google Analytics 4, operated by Google LLC and Google Ireland Ltd. It captures pages viewed, referring site, approximate location (city or country level), device and browser type, and session timing. GA4 does not log or store IP addresses. Advertising features, Google signals and ad personalisation are disabled — the data isn't used for advertising and isn't sold.

Cookies: GA4 writes two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_<ID>, with a lifetime of up to two years, and only after analytics is allowed. Consent: in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland a banner asks first, and nothing is sent to Google unless you click Accept; everywhere else analytics defaults to on and you can switch it off at any time. A browser sending the Global Privacy Control signal is treated as opted out. Your choice is persisted in local storage under the key analytics-consent — no cookie involved.

To flip it, open cookie settings, which reopens the banner. Google's processing is covered by Google's privacy policy, and the Google Analytics opt-out add-on blocks GA across all sites.

Some outbound links are affiliate links. When you click one, the provider or its affiliate network may set a cookie to attribute a later purchase to us. That's standard affiliate tracking, it costs you nothing, and it never affects our rankings — see our affiliate disclosure for the details. You can block or clear these cookies in your browser at any time.
